The final conference of the “Advancing National and Local Efforts to Reduce Disaster Risk to Children in the South Caucasus and Central Asia” project, implemented by UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) within the framework of DIPECHO IV, was held on 1 August 2017.
The conference was organised by the “Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform” Foundation and UNICEF with the support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of the Republic of Armenia.
On 18 May 2017 a preparatory seminar on “Piloting of a Child Sensitive Local Level Risk Management (LLRM) Methodology Implementaion Guideline in Khashtark and Getahovit communities of Tavush Marz/Province’’ was held in Dilijan Town within the frame of the Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform’s (DRR NP) project “Ensuring children’s safety through building resilience of communities and education institutions” funded by UNICEF and the European Commission under the DG European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Programme (DG ECHO).
On April 13, 2017 an expert group meeting of “Ensuring Children’s Safety through Building Resilience of Communities and Education Institutions” project was held at the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The project is implemented by the DRR National Platform Foundation, funded by the European Union through it’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations (ECHO) and UNICEF.
The meeting was attended by the representatives from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, DRR NP and UNICEF.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the ongoing process of of developing tools for improved community and children resilience and the meaning of disaster risk.
February 24-26, 2017 a workshop was held in “Park Resort” hotel, Aghveran. The meeting objective was to develop disaster management strategy of RA education sector. The workshop was organized in the frame of “Ensuring children’s safety through building resilience of communities and education institutions” project implemented by Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform / ARNAP Foundation in the frame of “Advancing national and local efforts to reduce disaster risk to children South Caucasus and Central Asia” project funded by the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) and UNICEF.
