On April 2, a working meeting with Tavush Marz Nerkin Tsaghkavan community secondary school staff was held. During it the current problems of school were discussed, particularly the organization of evacuation operations.
At the end of the meeting a contest on DRR theme was held.
Then a drill on the theme of “Pupils and staff of the Center evacuation organizing in case of fire” was implemented in “Bridge of hope” center of Marz.
During the drill evacuation and first aid for victims trainings were implemented by the Regional Rescue Department.
At the end of working day in the regional administration a working meeting with DRR regional team members, representatives of non-governmental organizations was held, during which the local level disaster risk assessment results were discussed, which were carried out in Hovk, Tsaghkavan, Aknaghbyur and Sevqar communities of Tavush Marz.
The events were organized by Oxfam Armenia, “Bridge of Hope” NGO and Tavush Regional Rescue Department.

On April 3 within the frames of Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform (DRR NP)/ARNAP a meeting was held with the representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The objective of the meeting was to discuss ADB credit program on school seismic strengthening.
Mr. Ye Yong (ADB, Urban Development Economist), Mrs. Gohar Musaelyan (ADB, Project Senior Officer), Mr. Peter Yanev (ADB, Earthquakes and Natural Hazards Risk Management Consultant), Mr. Andrew Yanev (ADB, Earthquakes and Natural Hazards Risk Management Consultant), Mr. Anil Pokhrel (ADB, Disaster Risk Management Specialist), Mr. Alex Jorgansen (Urban Development Consultant), Mrs. Shushan Kurkchiyan (ADB, Consultant), Mr. Movses Poghosyan (DRR NP Armenia, Ddirector), Mr. Ara Barseghyan (DRR NP Armenia, Deputy Director), Margarita Minasyan (DRR NP Armenia, Assistant to the Director) participated in the meeting.
On February 18 within the frames of DRR National Platform of Armenian and with the initiative of the Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) a working meeting and discussion on ” Replenishment of the Project’s Legal Component in DRR in URBAN Communities” was organized in “Ani Plaza” hotel.
Representatives from ARNAP Foundation, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Geneva office (IFRC), the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, Crisis Management State Academy (CMSA), Yerevan Municipality, Japan International Cooperation Agency, the UN Development Programme, UNICEF, Oxfam, World Vision and the Armenian branch of “Save the Children” Armenian office participated in the meeting. The goal of the meeting was:
• To present the results of the study done by experts within the frames of the project.
• To discuss issues related to the gaps of legislative filed and means of filling them.
• To find ways to combine existing legislative base with DRR tools.
The participants were divided into groups to discuss the topics that raised a number of issues to be resolved. In the result of the meeting it was decides to develop a final package of proposals and hand it to the thematic group of DRR National Strategy for ensuring the further activities.
On September 23-24, 2014 a meeting was held in “Armenia Marriott” hotel. The meeting brought together representatives from RA Government, UN Country Team, donor community, key stakeholders and civil society.
The welcoming speech said UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Bradley Busetto and Minister-Chief of RA Government Staff David Harutyunyan. The latter introduced to the audience RA Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s speech stressing the importance of UN-Armenia active and effective cooperation.
On September 3 in the framework of “Strengthening Resilience of Social Protection National Systems in Armenia” programme was held a meeting-acquaintance with the staff of the Integrated Social Service Center of Ajapnyak with the Director Samam Aslanyan. The meeting was attended by the program coordinator, Deputy Director of the “Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform” foundation Ara Barseghyan, MoES Development Department chief Ara Aslanyan and the MES Crisis Management State Academy rector Hamlet Matevosyan.
During the meeting the Social Service Center presented the fields of their activities, existing issues, the importance of creating conditions for development of social services, as well as efficiency perspectives of cooperation with NGO’s and international organizations.
The program team also presented the objective of DRR NP, scheduled actions and expected results, as well as the opportunity of future cooperation in the framework of DRR NP.
After the meeting both parties had great interest and willingness for further cooperation.
On August 6, MIRA thematic group meeting was held in “House of Hope” charity center. A. Sargsyan from UNOCHA Armenia, A. Davtyan and A. Muradyan from RA MES, A. Barseghyan from DRR NP participated in the meeting.
The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the technical work of “MIRA methodology contribution” thematic group.
During the meeting the objective of the thematic group meeting, the principles, issues and outcomes, plan-timetable of the project implementation.
On May 30 at 15.30 “LLRM” thematic group meeting was held in the “House of Hope”. Representatives from “LorE” rescue team, UNDP, “Support to Communities” NGO, OXFAM Armenia, “Disaster Management and Public Awareness” center and World Vision Armenia participated in the meeting.
It was decided:
1. To develop and to use one general assessment tool for the community risk management taking as a basis the local level risk management manual published in 2012.
2. To make researches in DRR NP framework and with the help of “LorE” R/T, which will not only implement the researches, but also make DRR teams in communities involving them in the assessment process, thus developing the community DRR capacities.
3.To plan and to develop a timetable and terms of reference for the implementation of researches.
4. To ensure the coordination and the information exchange process via DRR NP.
5. To ensure the access of the research outcomes to partner organizations, providing relevant reports to DRR NP Foundation.
6. To arrange a meeting in the second half of June to discuss and establish future actions.
