Training courses 2 for 911 and CMC operators

From February 1st to 8th German Red Cross (GRC) regional school of Baden-Württemberg regional organization’s First Aid and Rescue Service specialist Wolfgang Schmidt was in Armenia. The purpose of his visit was to meet with partner organizations to discuss organizational issues related to CMC and 911 operators’ training courses scheduled for April and to be held in RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations (MTAES) Crisis Management State Academy (CMSA) training center.

International consultant’s visit to Armenia

On January 26- 30, 2015, within the frames of UNICEF and ARNAP foundation joint project “Strengthening resilience of social protection system in Armenia” the international consultant Arkadi Toritsyn from Canada visited Armenia. The purpose of his visit was to support the national expert team to develop a package of recommendations on strengthening resilience of social protection system in Armenia, based on the international experience.
During the 5 day visit the international consultant had regular work-meetings with the national expert team, UNICEF and ARNAP staff. Besides, other meetings were organized with different stakeholders and partners form RA ministry of labor and social affairs, RA ministry of education and science, World Vision, UNDP, UN OCHA, Integrated social service center of Avan administrative district, Armenian Red cross society, World Bank, Armavir regional administration.
The following issues were discussed during the meetings:
• the goal and the purpose of the project,
• previous works implemented within the project,
• DRR national platform’s structure and activity,
• UNICEF’s involvement in strengthening resilience of social protection system,
• social protection systems in Armenia,
• the role and operations of the Integrated social centers,
• the role of social workers and case managers in DRR,
• Government response to actual disasters in Armenia (in Armavir region),
• support and employment programmes for the population that was affected by disasters,
