The “Preschool Educational Institutions’ Disaster Risk Management Plan” draft, being developed by the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), is being piloted.
This time, pilots are going to be implemented in N1, N4 and N9 kindergartens in Kapan Community. The aim of these pilots is to identify the gaps in the DRM draft of the kindergartens, and taking them into consideration, finalize it.
In order to provide the accessibility of the plan, the whole plan will be developed by the kindergarten staff and only in the case of necessity the MES associates supported them.
February 20,2018: Community Resilience Forum has been launched, whose aim is to spur processes of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) at the community level and by doing so, increase resilience of communities.
The Forum is co-organized by OxYGen Foundation and Save the Children International Armenian Representative Office, in close partnership with the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, UNDP, UNICEF, Armenian Red Cross Society, and DRR National Platform.

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 was adopted at the 3rd World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in 2015 based on which the Armenian National Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Strategy was developed and submitted to the Government for approval. The DRM strategy was approved by the RA Government in April 2017.
For providing implementation of a situational, current and ongoing study and record of the outcomes of the Sendai Action Plan and DRM National Strategy, under the leadership of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations and with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the DRR National Platform Foundation, the monitoring indicators of the Armenian DRM National Strategy and the Sendai Framework in Armenia are being developed.
February 8, 2018. Within the framework of the “Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform Capacities in Armenia” project (funded by the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations) jointly implemented with the DRR National Platform and the United Nations Development Program an unmanned aerial vehicle was acquired.
