The “Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform”/ARNAP Foundation is launching a new project. The main goal of the project is to support local-self governments to establishing and effective managing the disaster risk management fund in the context of developing community-based disaster risk management and emergency response capacity.
It also aims to increase the social responsibility of the community residents and their awareness of their role in the community issues.
Within the framework of the initiative, it is planned to develop a guide on “Creating and effectively managing a DRM fund at the community level”, which will then be presented in the target communities of the project, and in Stepanavan the model of the DRM fund will be established and piloted.
The project started in December 2020 and will finish on May 15, 2021.
The preparatory work for the project has already been completed: the working group developing the guide has been set up, and the work on developing the guide has started.
This initiative is implemented within the UNDP “Women and Youth for Innovative Local Development” project, with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
