UN office for Disaster Risk Reduction

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the main coordinating body for disaster risk reduction within the United Nations system. It was established in 1999 and serves as the UN’s official focal point for disaster risk reduction.

UNDRR’s main mission is to support governments, communities, and organizations in:
• reducing disaster risks,
• strengthening resilience,
• developing early warning systems, and
• ensuring safer and more sustainable development.

The organization also serves as the coordinating and monitoring body for the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030.
