World Vision is a child-focused and community-based organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. World Vision has become the largest Christian international non-governmental organization working in nearly 100 countries worldwide.
World Vision started operations in Armenia in 1988 providing emergency aid to people affected by the devastating earthquake. Currently, the organization has area offices in three strategic regions – Gegharkunik, Syunik, and Tavush – while also implementing programs in other regions through its partners.
WVA’s programs, which contribute to policy development and systemic change, have had a positive impact on the lives of around 500,000 children across Armenia.
WVA’s goal is to make Armenia a home for children and youth living with hope and dignity.
Main activities:
WVA implements activities under the following three strategic objectives:
- Safe, fair and empowering environment for boys and girls in Armenia, especially the most vulnerable.
- Resilient and shock responsive communities with inclusive and quality services.
- Sustainable solutions for well-being of children through strategic partnership.
WVA implements its programs on the following three levels:
At the Child and Family Level, WVA contributes to:
- Improved relationships of children with their peers, parents/caregivers and faith leaders,
- Improved resilience of children and their families,
- Improved recovery from disasters,
- Improved ability of families to meet the basic needs of their children,
- Improved mental and psycho-social state of MVC and their families,
- Reduced practices of physical and psychological punishment,
- Empowerment of boys and girls.
At the Community Level, WVA contributes to:
- Strengthening community child protection structures and mechanisms,
- Promoting overall resilience of the communities,
- Promoting inclusive and gender-sensitive environments in the communities,
- Promoting MVC’s and their families’ access to quality and inclusive public services.
At the National Level, WVA contributes to:
- Overall accountability and partnership,
- Sustainable solution to CWB issues,
- Influencing through coalitions.
